Eric St Eval Atkinson (6 November 1927 – 29 May 1998) represented the West Indies in eight Tests. He was Denis Atkinson’s younger brother, and the two were the third set of brothers to play for the West Indies. Denis’s final Test came against Pakistan in Bridgetown in 1957–58.

In his one-year Test career, Atkinson was largely a seam bowler, capturing 25 wickets. In 1957–58, he had his greatest Test bowling stats against Pakistan. when he grabbed 5 for 42 in the third Test’s first innings — before Garry Sobers struck a Test record 365 not out and Pakistan lost by an innings.as well as 174 runs

He made his first-class debut for Barbados in 1949-50 and played 11 matches for the island until the conclusion of the 1956–57 season, accumulating 411 runs at 29.37 and collecting 5 wickets at 96.00. In the opening match of the 1957–58 season, he hit form with the ball, taking 4 for 70 for Barbados against the visiting Pakistanis. A few days later, he made his Test debut, and from then on, he solely played for West Indian representative teams. He played against Pakistan in the first, third, and fifth Tests. In 1958–59, he visited India and Pakistan, playing three Tests in India and two in Pakistan before retiring.He took 12 wickets at 7.25 in successive matches in India against East Zone and South Zone, with his career-best figures of 6 for 10 when he and

Wes Hall bowled unchanged to dismiss East Zone for 39. In 1955–56, he had the best score of 77 against E.W. Swanton’s XI.

Eric St Eval Atkinson, who died on May 29, 1998, at the age of 70, following a protracted illness, played eight Tests for the West Indies in the late 1950s. In 1957-58, he made his debut as a 30-year-old opening bowler at Bridgetown, alongside his elder and more well-known brother Denis, who was playing his final Test match. After the Grants and the Stollmeyers, the Atkinsons were the third pair of brothers to play for the West Indies; there have been none since.

Atkinson was a tearaway bowler in his childhood, but he struggled when he first played for Barbados, taking only three wickets in his first nine games. By the time he made the Test team, he had settled into bowling fast-medium swing; he was known to have employed reverse swing for a long period. before anybody had given it a name. Eric married Ella Mary Bainbridge, who is his wife.

On June 29, 1945, the pair married. Ella went to Consett after marrying and worked as a housewife before becoming famous as Rowan’s mother. Eric used to be a farmer. Eric began his career as a farmer before moving on to become a corporate director. He was well-paid, and as a result, he was able to offer his

children with the opportunity to attend good schools and colleges.

Eric is the father of four children, all of them are males. Rowan, the eldest of his four boys, is the youngest. Paul, one of his kids, died when he was a baby. Rodney and Rupert are his other sons. Rodney is a well-known political and economic pundit, as well as a writer and entrepreneur. All of his boys were reared in Consett, England.
